OVERVIEW OF MICROLOCS

Microlocs are small, uniform locs created by sectioning the hair into tiny parts and installing them using interlocking, twisting, braiding, or a combination technique. They are similar to Sisterlocks but are more flexible in installation methods and grid patterns.

• Lightweight Feel
• High styling versatility
• Natural fullness
• Scalp accessibility
• Scalable sizing (small to very small)

Unlike larger locs, microlocs create a dense, flowing loc system that resembles loose natural hair when styled.

Installation Process

A professional microloc consultation focuses on planning the long-term loc structure.

Step 1 – Hair preparation
              Hair is :
                 • Clarified
                 • Deep cleansed
                 • Completely product-free
                 • Fully detangled

This ensures clean locking foundations. Please note hair has to be more than 1inch.

Step 2 – Sectioning
The head is divided using a
               precise grid system :
              • Diamond grid
              • Square grid
              • Brick grid

The grid determines the final density and uniformity of the loc system.

Step 3 – Installation technique
              Microlocs may be installed
              using :
              • Two strand twists
              • Braids
              • Interlocking

               The choice depends on :
              • Hair texture
              • Desired look
              • Longevity expectations

Step 4 – Completion
              Installation time typically
              takes:
              • 5 – 22 hours depending on
              hair density and length
              and whether extensions are
              being installed or not.

Early Stage (0–3 Months)

During the early phase, hair begins forming internal tangles.

   Clients may experience :
     • Frizz
     • Unraveling at the ends
     • Puffiness
     • Shrinkage

These are normal parts of the locking process.

   Recommended care :
     • Light oils
     • Minimal manipulation
     • Gentle washing

First retightening appointment occurs in 3 – 4 weeks

Budding (3–9 Months)

Hair strands begin matting internally, forming loc buds.

Changes include:
    • Small swelling within loc shafts
    • More texture
    • Reduced unraveling
    • Improved hold

Maintenance during this stage:

    • Retightening every 4 – 8 weeks
    • Hydrating the scalp
    • Avoiding heavy products

Maturing (9–18 Months)

Locs begin forming their final structure.

    • Defined loc pattern

Styling becomes easier :

    • Twist outs
    • Curl sets
    • Braided loc styles

    • Firm
    • Lightweight
    • Dense
    • Highly versatile

Clients can enjoy :

Microlocs require consistent maintenance as they are a long-term commitment.

Typical schedule :
    • Retightening : every 4–8 weeks
